Any interest in an August #chsh golf outing?
This just popped into my head…any interest in a very casual round of golf the day of the Main Event? We could find a course with public trans access or car pool…extremely non-competitive…just for fun and sunshine and beer?
Thoughts? Interest? Hit my asky or email john.scholvin at the gmailz…

Thanks for the support, advice, creative phrases I can use, and offers for revenge, y’all.

Impatiens
You can get a big tray of ‘em for about $15 at every Home Depot, garden store, and even most grocery stores this time of year here in Zone 6. Probably elsewhere, too. They grow just about anywhere. They’re common, easy to grow, pretty.
So, when it happens that a seven-year-old boy and his best friend accidentally let their ball get over the fence and into your yard, and they head over...

Thou dare speak ill against the hallowed ivy walls of Wrigley Field? That’s just wrong on so many levels. I’m now going to go get me an Old Style, channel Harry Cary and sing Take Me Out To The Ball Game in honor of the best damn park in baseball.

The "Are You Fucking Kidding Me?" of the Day

I wonder if Eric Cantor would be man enough to stand up and say that at the Joplin firehouse, or the hole in the ground where it used to be, as appropriate.

A Garota de Ipanema
It’s almost as beautiful to read as it is to hear:

Getting that garden box built, fulla dirt, and populated with a bunch of vegetables that, with care and good weather, will eventually make my children cry at the dinner table and barter with me over how many micrograms they must ingest to get dessert.
Another awesome baseball game with Danny. He loves to play. He’s a good kid. He wants to learn and he always tries hard. He can hit,...

Live Webcam from Sydney →
It’s 12:30pm Saturday there as I post this; shockingly, it looks like a beautiful day, and they’re all still alive and just doing Saturday Australian things. Running from giant spiders, putting out brush fires, adding the occasional extra “u” to words that end in “-or.”
Then again, I read today that the world will end at 6pm local time everywhere, so it’s...

Tuesday Pondering
There was some point in the past—I’m guessing when I was about ten, surely before I was twelve—that I held my father’s hand for the last time. He’s still here, we get along fine, there was no dramatic event, but there came a final time because there just was. Boys stop holding their daddies’ hands.
I wonder if he thought about it at the time. “That may...
