A single association governs the house leagues of several near west suburban towns, including that of the abusive coach. That association also hosted the tournament where the terrible incident occurred. I wrote the president of the association to express my shock and anger at what I witnessed. Given the incestuous relationship of the board, those teams, and the tournament, I still think there’s a strong chance the guy who will read that letter is a friend of the offender. Might even be him.

I doubt it will make much difference, but after spending over 24 hours thinking about it and then talking it over with Sharon, I don’t think there’s anywhere else we can go with this.

Hopefully, I won’t come home tomorrow to find my house burned down.

  1. penbleth said: Good on you for writing to them about this, even if it is a closed shop. Speaking up could well be the first step, or perhaps there are other letters and your voice will add more weight.
  2. ashamedtosay said: I am glad you did what you did. More of us need to step forward when we see this type of bullying, our child or not, and say something - if not in that moment, because of safety, then later to people who matter.
