Logic Pro X has some seriously next level shit.
To wit: a series of computer drummers for whom you can dial in basic beats, levels of complexity, and loudness. No more tediously (for this non-drummer) crafting a beat then painstakingly adjusting each note because I played it like an orangutan. You just choose the drummer, the kit, the base beat, and then you can move that controller around to customize it.
Each drummer’s personality and the description are over the top. “Darcy: Tasteful, restrained, and dedicated to serving the song, Darcy plays simple, tasteful pop beats on a natural-sounding kit.” There’s even a sketch.
But god dammit, we live in the future, people. This is so, so great.
And yes, I’m starting your* Secret Santa project. It may be late. Don’t hate. I’m making it with love. Blame Darcy if it runs closer to New Years.
* for some value of “your”
Hey, look! My secret santa stuff arrived! And though she didn’t identify herself on the package, I know only one person from Georgia who would defile the box with “GO PACK GO.” Good thing she’s awesome and thoughtful and hilarious so I can overlook that otherwise tragic character flaw.
The ornament is already on the tree, and the guitar playing metal dude will stand atop my right speaker for all his days. Love!
May your days be merry and bright, y’all!
(I’m going back to timeout/lurker mode now.)
